Our Story

Paperman was started in 2010 with an

objective to accelerate recycling in India.

 

Our initiatives include public awareness

programs, on-demand recycling platform,

managing processing units in partnership

with various state governments, turnkey

contractors for setting up recycling unites,

and other ancillary services for the industry.

 

We provide world class technology to our clients,

partners and public organizations to design and

 execute large scale recycling projects.

 

Over the 8+ years in operation, we have touched

more than 500,000 people across India’s $5 Billion

 (USD) recycling industry.

Our timeline

The evolution of Paperman over the years 

2010

Paperman launches with school recycling programs in the city of Chennai.

2012

Developed a students program partnered with India University IIT-Kharagpur to build a platform that maps out all the kabadiwallahs in the city of Chennai.

2013

School recycling program reached over 200 schools across south India with participation of over 300,000 children.

2014

Introduced a breakthrough technology platform: On-demand Doorstep Recycling mobile application “An Uber for trash model” where households can directly connect with kabadiwallahs.

2015

Launched Trash Funding program that resembles the  “kick-starter model” for raising funds for local non-profits from small and medium trash-producers who recycle their materials through doorstep recycling service 

2016

Doorstep recycling technology program reaches 5,000 touch points and engages 270 kabadiwallahs in the Chennai. Over 2,500,000 INR raised for over 40 non-profits in Chennai.

2017

Started working with waste material aggregators and recyclers to improve the economics of India’s recycling industry.

2018

Moving to become a “Trash Economy accelerator” by helping India manage its trash through a Circular Economy model.
